Dublin hotels

One of Europe's most intriguing and culture-rich cities is Dublin, home of Guinness, Jameson Irish Whiskey and hundreds of bars that serve them both. Even if you can't make it to Dublin for St. Patrick's Day, there are plenty of reasons to visit the Irish capital.

Not far from the city center is the chain hostel, Dublin YHA. YHA is situated in a converted church and convent, a past that can still be seen in the makeup of the facility; the old nun's chapel has been converted into a restaurant for use by the hostel's guests. With a good location, YHA is perfect as your center for crashing after a long day's exploring or after a long night's partying. It is laid back, while its dining hall is exciting and epic enough to have been compared to the Great Hall in Hogwarts. The only regular complaint of YHA is that any additional service costs extra beyond the $18 per bed per night. This is a decent deal, however, for a hostel in a major city that is well located, a bit higher price is negligible.

On the other side of the River Liffey is Kinlay House Dublin, located in the heart of the city in Temple Bar, an area famous for its nightlife and distinct Irish culture. It would be difficult to find a better location for a hostel, especially for those travelers looking to spend much of their time in Dublin exploring the night. For the daytime, or those inevitable tired nights, Kinlay House has multiple common rooms and free wifi. To start each night is a different hosted activity, such as pasta night, Irish dancing lessons, and free barbecue. The hostel is easily accessible from the airport by a seven-euro shuttle.

One of the coolest hostels in the same area as Kinlay House is Barnacles Temple Bar House where you can find a bed for as little as $14. Barnacles is two doors away from the famous Temple Bar Pub where you can grab a Guinness or two or three in a traditional Irish setting. Barnacles is next to Trinity College, Dublin Castle, the Jameson Distillery, Christchurch Cathedral and is located in the middle of Temple Bar itself, next to shops and restaurants of all kinds. The hostel hosts its own Barnacles Pub Crawl every night at 9:00 to start you off in the right direction.

Dublin has a number of Backpackers and Hostels which are very good value. Please use the search engine to locate and book. Only part payment is made!
